Bioidentical Hormone Supplementation

A hormone is a chemical messenger that carries information to target cells.

There are many different kinds of hormones in the body including estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, and melatonin. Most of these hormones decline with age, causing annoying symptoms such as fatigue, anxiety, wrinkles, low libido, sleep disturbances, bloating, depression, headaches, hot flushes, painful intercourse, bone loss,  memory problems, incontinence and joint pain.

These hormone deficiency symptoms do not need to be ‘lived-with’, a ‘fact of life’ or tolerated. Hormones can be replaced back into the body so as to treat the hormone deficiency symptoms.

There are two different ways to supplement your hormones:

  • Bioidentical Hormones.  These hormones have a chemical structure similar to endogenous human hormones (hormones naturally produced in the human body). Physiological (normal) dosing of the hormones is encouraged, so as to replicate the body’s natural production of hormones.
  • Synthetic Hormones. These hormones have a chemical structure different from endogenous human hormones. They are often produced in a one dose fits all manner, which can be too high for many people. This high dose as well as the different chemical structure of these type of hormones, may account for the side effects that are often experienced.
